How to use wire strippers and precautions?

How to use wire strippers

Wire strippers are the most widely used electrician tools for line maintenance. Correct use of wire strippers is very important, so how should the wire strippers be used in a standardized way? In fact, the use of wire strippers is very simple, mainly divided into the following three steps:

First of all, when using wire strippers to strip the insulation layer of the wire, first use a ruler to measure the length of the insulation that needs to be stripped, and make the corresponding marks. If the wire stripper comes with a length ruler, you can directly use the wire stripper to measure the stripped length

Then, hold the pliers handle of the wire stripper with one hand, and put the wire into the cutting edge of the wire stripper with the other hand;

Finally, hold the grip of the wire stripper to peel off the unwanted wire insulation layer and expose the metal wire.

Precautions for the use of wire strippers

If you want to use the wire stripper for a long time, in addition to the standard operation when using the wire stripper, you also need to pay attention to the following seven points:

1. Do not use the wire stripper as a hammer, otherwise excessive force or hard hammer will cause the wire stripper to break.

2. Do not use the wire stripper as a wrench, otherwise the blade of the wire stripper will be cracked, which will affect the normal use of the wire stripper in the future.

3. Do not use the wire stripper as a vise (wire pliers), and do not use the wire stripper to clamp hard objects such as steel wire or iron wire, so as to prevent the blade of the wire stripper from becoming blunt and affecting normal use.

4. Do not blindly extend the length of the pliers because the pliers handle is not long enough, but use the corresponding specifications of the pliers to operate.

5. The protective cover of some wire strippers pliers handle is not made of an insulator, but a rubber cover, which does not have the function of preventing electricity and cannot work with electricity.

6. The pliers handle (insulation part) of the wire stripper must not have any nicks, scars, etc., otherwise there will be safety hazards during use.

7. It is best to wear eyepieces when using wire strippers to avoid eye injury.
